A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) receptacle functions differently from conventional outlets. In the event of a ground fault, a GFCI will quickly trip and stop the flow of electricity, preventing serious injury.

TEST Button & RESET Button: Pressing the TEST button should stop the flow of electricity, causing the RESET button to pop out. Power can be restored by pressing the RESET button.
